The outside of the mandarin orange skin looks and feels like plastic. The inside of the skin has a cushion-like feel as if it were made to protect the fruit. The cell structure of this cushiony surface is not regular and even. Parts of it looks like it's made of little shock absorbers. However nothing is evenly shaped--it's all wildly irregular. Well--it is nature, not human manufacture.
